You will only ever find a supportive, friendly and understanding environment within which to train and challenge yourself as you grow in confidence and experience. If you are still not sure about giving pole a go then read our beginner’s guide, located on the pole dancing timetable page, put together by students for those wanting a little reassurance about what they are stepping into.
Vertical Joy are at the beginning of their journey into the world of pole having participated in their first ever competition in 2016. It was a very proud team that brought back a 1st place in the Intermediate Amateur category and a 3rd place in the Professional Amateur category as well as putting on some stunning performances by some very talented students and instructors getting on stage for the very first time. It feels as though we announced our arrival in the industry in style and absolutely loved being part of the supportive, passionate and proud pole dance school crowd. If you would like to look at competing in championships around the country then vertical can assist you to that end. We also host workshops throughout the year with the world’s best so that students can try different styles and progress in key areas with the right tuition.

How did Vertical Joy come about?
Sarah Myers wanted to pass on her passion for pole and found that she had a talent when it came to tutoring students. There are multiple ways to execute some of the more complex pole moves and combinations and a skillful instructor will be able to match you with the right technique to keep you progressing in each class. It was very much about seeing students accomplish their goals and overcome confidence and self-esteem issues for Sarah so her one to one tuition was expanded into group sessions. Vertical Joy brings together a team of instructors with the same goal of spreading the pole fitness love and helping establishing it as a serious strand in the health and fitness industry. If you want sexy and seductive pole then you can learn the moves but if you relish the fitness challenge and the strength gains from the discipline then you can focus your efforts in that direction. Pole fitness, or pole dancing, has something for everyone so Vertical Joy has male and female clients with differing goals, body shapes and ranges of abilities.
